Car

Had a little accident yesterday, the first time since I own a car. It wasn't my fault, she drove out of a parking lot reversing straight into my door. Luckily my speed was limited, so there wasn't any damage, apart from my door obviously and worse, the whole window that broke into 1474 pieces.

We filled out an insurance form, I trust her enough to hope that her insurance company will sort things out, in the meantime I'm buggered, as I can't lock my car properly, therefore can't take it anywhere until it's repaired. It could be a bit cold anyway.

I was on my way to McD's for lunch, perhaps this is a hint, I shouldn't eat junkfood...

Thanx. Somehow, before I even switched off the motor, I knew it wasn't much. I just was wondering were all that glass came from, as I had my window open completely, which meant it was exactly in that door where I was hit. I had to pick a piece out of my hair. She had a bigger shock then I had it seemed. As long as nobody has injuries, to me a car is just a piece of metal.

Oh no!

That's terrible, hope you are ok!
I love how you know the window broke into exactly 1474 pieces!

You've got superhero qualities, I guess I resemble Rainman a bit sometimes ;-)

Ugh......that sucks! Glad you didn't get hurt!

Not a single scratch. At least until I started to pick up the pieces of glass from my seat. Never pick up glass with your bare hands. But rather that than in my bum while driving ;-)

Oh, thats too bad...luckly nobody got hurt..

So it wasn't really bad.

I'm glad no one got hurt! I hope you get the car fixed soon. I've had to drive around in a Michigan winter with one of my car windows out, before, and that wasn't any fun at all. *much sympathy*

I'm not driving around in it at the moment, I can manage on my bike. That's the advantage of the Netherlands: small scale and flat, a push bike will do in most occasions. Until it starts raining like today (and 327 other days every year..).

Riding a bike in the rain is no good, either! *laughs*

I have to try to go by pushbike more often anyway. I stopped playing football, which is 3 times a week less burning of calories, so to avoid growing fat, I need to do something. But I do agree, in the rain it is less fun.

Hmmm . . . maybe I ought to get a bike to rise to work. I think I'd have better luck with that than trying to ride my stationary bike. Winter's coming on in a few months, here, but it's something to think about for next year!

To add to the continuing story of misery going back and forth to work, today I lost the key of the bike's lock. I had to leave it at work and take the train home. Which in this case takes more time, with walking to and from stations already taking of more than half the time I need for cycling home and the train then taking a detour before I can get home. Somehow I feel somebody is trying to tell me something. Could it be that the fear of settling in for a regular life is overtaking my life?

I think some one is trying to tell you to stop riding a bike. *laughs* Either that, or you're just having a patch of bad luck! I hope it goes away, soon!

Hey, I need to get my car fixed first, until then it's either bike or public transport. So it's either sitting on a 3 different buses with my own students (1 hour), sitting on 2 trains and walk a lot (hour plus) or just take the bike (50mins) and enjoy the nature, the good weather we so seldomly enjoy, listen to my own music on my crappy walkman. The choice is fairly obvious at the moment.

Yeah, I can see it is. Well, I hope the weather stays gorgeous until you get your car fixed!

Since not playing football anymore, using some calories isn't too bad for me. I don't mind at the moment, makes an easy choice. Otherwise I would have to choose every morning. Do I get out now and cycle, or sleep another 15 minutes and take the car. Do I want to be active or lazy. Fundamental dilemma's.

Most definitely a sign to avoid Mc.Do

I have to admit that I did go thru the McDrive afterwards anyway, they had a strange look at my car. I guess from now on I'll only go there walking and not too often anyway.
