pic size

Since I've got so many clever friends here, I might as well pop another question. How do I make pictures smaller. I've got some nice pictures uploaded to my photobucket, but if I use it in my LJ here, it remains a huge pictures, certain to screw up friends pages everywhere.

Who can help?

I'm leaving in a few hours for the rest of the week, but I'll be happy to resize them for you if you can e-mail them to me fairly soon ...

(Besides, I want to see them! You've been in my favorite continent ... *g*)

It would be easist if I just left them in my Photobucket, so I can use them in my blogs.

They are here:

I know there is some sort of HTML code that says a percentage or a height/width to make sure pictures don't get to big. How do you do your pictures in your LJ?

Nice photos! Your pictures of Iguazu are much better than mine ... it was pouring rain when I was there. :)

I'm not sure how to do the html thing ... I've never used it because it can't reduce the size if the image files themselves, and so the page would take forever to load for anybody with a dial-up connection .

So I use Photoshop or another image editor to reduce both the image size and the associated file size, and link to the reduced-size photos. I try to limit the size of each file to 50 kb or so, and no more than 600 pixels wide. If you don't have software to do that, I'd be happy to make reduced-size copies of the pics for you ... just let me know.

Okay, thanx. I have downloaded Photoshop already, just never used it yet and find it too time-consuming for the few times I want to use it.

I am used to scan-software, so I have used that for other pictures as well. Will do that soon.

Thanx for the offer anyway.

There are other options. You have a paid account, so you could upload your photos to LJ. Some photo sizes (like 640x480) can be scaled down to a more manageable size, but some can't. That feature is somewhat limited. One nice thing about using that is that it's easy to post pictures to your LJ.

If you want to use the height/width HTML tags, you could do this:

<img src="http://media.venda.com/bbcshop/ebiz/bbc/invt/ebbcdvd1692/REDDWARF7_DVDlrg.gif" height=25% width=25%>

which would give you this:

Thanx, that was exactly the tag I needed!

Keep in mind that using that tag doesn't change the file size, so depending on what size you originally started with, it will still be a large file to download. It's really better to resize the pictures on your computer before uploading.

I already uploaded them, resizing might affect the quality as well. I know it takes a bit of bandwidth, yet I hardly ever use pictures, so I think I like the quality to be good.
