Another interesting post by Insomnia:

Read it, if you're interested in the Afghanistan crisis/war/jihad/battle/whatever-you-like-to-call-it

Wow

Very interesting. I added insomnia as a friend, very impressive thinking. I am surprised at you though, do you agree with the spread of western influence now? That is basically the point right? We must convince them that we do uphold their values and set a good example right? Show them that our way is better and saner than the fundamentalist side? I don't know gerbie, have you been sucked into the dark side???? :)
(hmm, or does this finally answer my question of what the US should be doing instead of bombing? Still don't understand exactly how we go about it though.) It is very hard to influence and demonstrate to people what the US is all about if they aren't allowed to recieve the information. (Not to mention if they don't want to and are overly suspicious of it.) Difficult plan, but interesting.

No, I do not agree with everything he says. I do agree with the fact that extreme fundamentalism is wrong. As it is wrong with fundamentalists christians. And they still live in your country, also in mine. I do agree on the point that the Islam and Christian principles are the same. There are so many similarities, that it is ridiculous to fight over a few details. The problem is that those details suddenly turn into major points for fanatics.

In general I love reading Insomnia's posts. He is always well informed, has interesting comments on important issues, is open minded and has shitloads of links to all kinds of stuff I'd like to read completely, had the day twenty eight hours.

I do discuss with you as well, don't I? And more often than not, we disagree. But to get a good valuable opinion, one needs to read and get informed. Not just stick with what you agree with, but also from other sides. It makes reading so much more interesting.

Fundamentalist Christians!!! Oh no!! That's a crazy bunch. I was just reading about one of them in the paper this morning. (I forgot his name, he wasn't one of the big ones.) Anyway, this sicko was having a fit saying that none of the millions of dollars donated to the WTC funds should be given to anyone gay. Lovely, what a fine Christian man, do unto others and all! What an ass. As far as fighting over the details, even within the same religion people do that. That's why there are so many denominations, crazy mess. What about Ireland?? Those poor Catholic kids trying to get to school!!
You do discuss with me, and I love it!! I enjoy reading your opinions because they ARE so different from mine sometimes. (Sometimes they are very similar too.) I so appreciate the fact that you have made me search out the answers to some things that I may not have otherwise. Thank you, by the way!

Any fundamentalists are bad. Whatever religion. I'm not religious, can't understand religions anyway, but try to be tolerant. The problem is always that religions cause wars, cause problems. Apart from that it is abused big time. The Taliban is one example, a very bad one, American tv-preachers are similar in my opinion.

Don't put too many feathers there anymore btw, I can hardly go to the bathroom... (but thanx to you the same!)

I take it that you read the following post on the Belfast issue:

It did annoy me big time then, still, when I think of it.

No, I hadn't read that post. I don't think I had come across you yet. Sick stuff, I was so horrified at that. Kind of strange how the 11th was just a few days later...
What is with the whole religion "my god can beat up your god" thing. Really stupid.

Childish is the best word to describe it. Any reason to fight is stupid, but details on how to read the bible (the only difference between Catholics and Protestants) makes a holy war between Islam and Christianity look normal.

I just can't get it. Religion is a way to flee away for reality.
