It is getting funnier all the time:

What's next? Tear down lady liberty, because it was the French who send her as a present over a century ago?

Suddenly, I'm sad to be an American. We are becoming the world's bully, if we aren't already. Don't like what we say? We'll either destroy you, boycott your products (which is being discussed regarding the French), cut off your economic aid, or totally ignore you and mock you.

The more I think about it, the less the whole Freedom/French thing makes sense. If the French were somehow actually threatening our freedom, I could see it as a semi-patriotic gesture. But this is just stupid.

And yes, I know it's satire. Some of it is, anyway. They really are re-naming french fries and french toast and other things in parts of the country. It's still stupid.

The worse thing is that too many people do not see the irony, do not realise that there is satire involved. Or that the whole world is making fun..

Don't give them any ideas!!!!!!!!!

I am getting sick of it. You're lucky you don't have to deal with it day in and day out.

I think I'm going to buy some French wine. Beaujolais. That's my FAVORITE.

There won't be many French agreeing with you. Not only is it not the time of the year, it is their preferred choice of export. They keep the quality to themselves. Still, it might be a statement drinking it now..

I like fruity aromatic wines best.

You found the right one!

I heard, from rather dubious sources, that there's a law making the rounds in Congress to rename all "French" named things, like French fries, French toast, etc. I'm still hunting around to see if this is true or not. I've seen a few things in LJ that might be allusions to such a thing, but like I said, my sources were pretty shaky, so I don't know if it's true or not.
*sighs* I think I'll change my bio and stop admitting to being an American. :-(

I can imagine you considering that. On the other hand, if the last few sensible people do that, what is left behind. The most powerfull nation in the world without any common sense. So do the rest of the world a favour and stay to save your country. There are plenty of sane Americans, LJ is full of them. Now all you need to do is obtain power.

Actually, the thought of running for office has crossed my mind a time or two. I've got just about as squeaky-clean a public record as you could ask for in a politician, so there's no dirt to dig up on me in a campaign. *grins*
I'm mulling the thought over. You never know, it just might happen.

Who says the dirt has to exist? One could easily just make up!

*laughs* True, true, but I'm figuring they're out of practice at that. After all, they generally don't have to!

Nope. First they make things up, later they find out it's true. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about. ;-)
