Home for a month now, it's about time I start thinking about doing some work. I have been looking a bit more lately, though find it very complicated to make a decision, I've got to decide want I want basically. My ideal job would be teaching for two days a week, for half a year at the time, have regular journalistic work next to it, be a ski instructor in the school holidays and guide a few trips through unusual destinations in the other half year. That would still leave me plenty of time to do some writing. I'm afraid that won't happen soon though. So I have to choose within a month now. I've narrowed down the options though.

1. Night porter in a hotel. Advantages: not bad paid, time to write while I work. Disadvantage: no social life, not much of a challenge. Apart from that I got turned down when applying today.
2. Teaching at my old school. Advantage: could work part time (i.e. writing time), plenty of freedom to do things my way, different subjects, could get a teaching degree in a year next to it. Disadvantage: been there, done that. Badly motivated kids.
3. Teach somewhere else. Advantage: new school, new face's, kids could be smarter or younger. Disadvantage: schools aren't entitled to hire me without papers, less variety as my old school.
4. Journalism. Advantage: would be something new, new challenge, got some contacts. Disadvantage: don't know if I want to do that full time, too many boring tasks, contacts are no guarantee
5. Work for a tour operator: advantage: something new, something connected to what I've done before, outlook on new opportunities within the company, several have read my travel reports and know me. Disadvantage: probably badly paid, fairly simple work
6. Go to the UK and teach: Advantage: different country, teachers shortage over there as well, get a degree in a year for sure, writing options available. Disadvantage: need money to get started, expensive even if I manage the start
7. Croupier in a casino. Advantage: well paid, job is wanted all around the world. Disadvantage: casino doesn't open 'til next year, extreme strict rules, no own liberty
8. Third world country volunteer: Advantage: get to do something useful, get to know a new country/culture/language, rewarding. Disadvantage: procedure takes really long, would need a job before I leave, need money before I go
9. Call center work: Advantage: easy, done it before, practice my languages. Disadvantage: no long term job, extremely badly paid, no challenge
10. Looking for adverts in papers: Advantage: at least you know they're looking for someone Disadvantage: haven't seen anything remotely interesting lately.

I'm afraid that the decision could take a bit still.....
