Watched Nynke yesterday, a Frysian movie about a female author in the late 19th century. She was married to a socialist politician, in a time when politics was still about conservatives and liberals and women were supposed to breed and raise children. Their marriage encountered plenty of difficulties, through which she suffered most, almost being declared insane. In the end she still manages to write a brilliant children´s book but loses her husband to the maid.

Intriguing movie, makes me realise (once more) that I have been waiting all my life for a woman with a strong mind. Someone intelligent and certainly not depending on me. Now I only have to find her, she who fits the description ;-)

A week without school, that means at least that I get to sleep as long as I want for the next 5 days. Today will probably be filled with shopping, some grading of papers and the football club archives tonight. First up: Breakfast.

Ian Fleming – De man met de gouden vingers (03-046)

On my way to Enschede my car broke down. This meant I had to wait an hour in my car for someone to come and help me, while it was pouring down outside. This was the book I had in my car, ready to be released (http://www.bookcrossing.com) so I had no other choice but to read it to pass time. So when an hour later, sixty something pages into the book, the mechanic finally showed up, I was far enough in the book to want to finish it. Not that it is a good book, just plain curiosity. I think the James Bond stories are the only ones that are better seen then read. The exception to the rule that the book is always better. The story is very one dimensional, no surprise, hardly any tension. But it wasn’t extremely crap; otherwise I wouldn’t have finished it. Want it? Or other books I have available?
