In the early sixties the youth team of De Volewijkers was so good, nearly all of them played for the first team a year later. They were a hit and got promoted to the highest Dutch division. The local boys from Amsterdam Noord suddenly were a big hit. The whole neighbourhood was thriving. Football was the national pastime, most players played for the club from their town and had a (part-time) job next to playing. This book describes in several stories the story of that legendary 1961 team. 9 stories by 7 authors. Very interesting. As much a sociology study as a sport story.
