december 8, 1980
Dec. 8th, 2004 11:44 pmI remember the day very well. I was listening to the local charts on the radio, ten years old. I had only just discovered this singer who had a song called 'Starting over', but also a christmas song. He had played in this band called the Beatles. That day some lunatic shot him, because he thought his favourite actress would then fall in love with him. The world is missing John Lennon. I read a lot about him after his death, I saw the mourners in central park, mostly hippies, singing about giving peace a chance.
In the years that followed I listened to and collected his music. I read his biography. I managed to distinguish his songs and Paul's songs in their time as the best song writing duo ever. I became a dedicated follower. I read his poetry and even bought the terrible cd he made with Yoko. It had to be sold in a paper bag. It seems because they are both naked on the cover, but I know it is to protect the world from a hysteric Yoko. The world is so much poorer without him.
War is over if you want it
