Graham Greene – The third man/The fallen idol (06-081)

Some books are considered classics, but somehow I don’t get round to reading them. The Third Man had been on my shelves for nearly a decade before I finally got it out and started reading it. And even though I do not regret having read it, I have to say I do not understand why this book has become a classic. The story is short and simple, does not really go deep, hasn’t got a hero worth remembering, nor a plot that takes you by surprise. All in all, just a nice story to read inbetween good books.

The second story The Fallen Idol comes as an added bonus in this cover, but to me the story lingers as much as the first one. Written from the perspective of a small child, it could have been a children’s story. Perhaps it is. Perhaps I just didn’t get it.
