Jan. 12th, 2007 11:05 pmAs a youngster he was a friend of Bono. They both started a band. U2 become popular. The Virgin Prunes didn't. Gavin Friday made a solo album. "Each man kills the thing he loves", the title track based on a Oscar Wilde poem.
Suddenly I found somebody who did actually think about his lyrics. Someone who threw in Brecht as well, just to prove that literature is not boring. That it can be combined with music. That music can be more than just some noisy wallpaper. He did make several albums since, though none as good as his first one. A few songs from a concert in those days were on YouTube:
