Second look (82)

It is difficult to take a picture in the middle of the Opernplatz in Berlin. The sun reflects, but I want the empty bookshelves to be visible. May 10th, 1933 this was the place of the biggest book burning in history. I like this monument. It is simple, it is open, it is not difficult to understand.
Heinrich Heine is quoted on a plaque:
"Das war ein Vorspiel nur, dort wo man Bücher verbrennt, verbrennt man am Ende auch Menschen." (Translation: Where one begins by burning books, one will end up burning people./Where they burn books, they will end up burning human beings, too.)
