Mother nature makes it easy sometimes to take a nice picture. If it wasn't for the bad camera and similar scanner, it could have been a great one. All you have to do is fly to Reykjavik, take a tour from there (or rent a car), wait near Geysir until the Strokkur, the most active from the two, bursts out. This will take only a few minutes.
In half an hour you get a few bursts, one of them you grab your camera and presto, your job is done. Then you enjoy the surroundings and head back to Reykjavik.
