Michael Moore – Downsize this

I have read most of his books by now, though completely in reverse order. Moore has become more popular and also more hated over the last years; I guess also a sign of the polarisation of the American society.
This book is not a real book. It is a collection of columns, articles and blog entries with a cover around it. This makes it easy to read, but also gives you the rollercoaster idea when two completely different subjects happen to share a double page.
Some chapters are interesting, like one of the first chapters where cheques are being sent in the name of murderers and child molesters to politicians, who happily oblige and cash the money. Some scary, the chapter where he proves who the big welfare receivers in the US are really: big multinationals. Some a bit like kicking in open doors: The corporate crooks. Others less convincing. The chapter on OJ wasn’t necessary. We don’t need Moore to explain the OJ trial anymore. And even several chapters should have been ignored. I know when one writes a blog or regular columns that some are less interesting, but just don’t put them in a book afterwards and it seems that you are a real great columnist. All in all, nice book, but for the moment I don’t need more by Moore.
