Winter in the Netherlands

The world is beautiful when it is white. Once every decade the winter is cold enough to go skating. Speedskating that is, for those who don't understand the Dutch way. Today was a dream. Hundreds of thousands of Dutch people went somewhere to skate today.
I was one of them. Everthing was perfect. Temperature just below zero (nine when I started, a bit warmer later on), no wind, sun and ice that wasn't bad.
They had made a track of four kilometer, I managed seven laps, so nearly 30k. Not bad for someone who hadn't been on ice for 18 years. Who last tuesday had to visit his parents to find if there were skates left there somewhere.
Apparently tuesday it'll all be over again. Shame.
