Chile was worse. They make fun of most sports, don“t care about the people who actually like to see the events and suddenly got interested when their tennis players were in the semis.
I must say, I resent this. I witnessed the exact same thing in Spain & Germany, where I was travelling during the Olympics. In fact, I didn't get to see the tennis matches because, well, the finalists were not Spaniards so they did not care to broadcast them. And the sudden interest in our tennis players? Don't you think that's to be expected? My guess is that half the US were glued to their seats when Massu played v/s Fish...
With that said, I'm sorry you didn't get to see the south of Chile. It beats Santiago and Valparaiso by far, although I'm quite fond of the latter.
