Ben Elton – Past mortem (05-053)

A Whodunnit by the master of comedy. I’ve been a big fan of Elton since The Young Ones and Blackadder. I loved several of his books, most to be honest.

This volume was a gift from my little sister, she knows my taste. Edward Newson is a short ginger detective with a great mind. He is investigating a weird murder and finds similarities with other murder cases, that nobody has seen before.

In the meantime he tries to find some old friends and old love through a website called Friends Reunited. The reunion his former girlfriend throws is a success. At least for Edward. She ends up killed soon after that. His investigation and his private life get mingled. Obviously, as a proper Whodunnit, in the end he finds the killer.

Cleverly written, funny characters, nice plot, great book. After Dead Famous and High Society, Elton again shows that he is able to mix the changing world with fiction and turn it into a great story. Compliments!
