1. Almost cut my hair, it happened just the other day
2. This is the 51st state of the U.S.A.
3. Wir tanzen die ganze Welt vor, wir zeigen ihn die Schritt.
4. Here we are now, entertain us
I can't think of any more now, but these line to me are defining a whole generation, a whole era. Who knows them all? Who has other great lines in the same category?

Date: 2001-12-12 03:23 pm (UTC)#4 is by Nirvana, and certainly was an era-defining song where I grew up. #2 is by New Model Army, and although it registered to me when I heard it growing up, almost no one else I know even caught it. Was the song popular in the Netherlands when it was released? I assume it was in the U.K., but it was pretty much unknown in the States.
