war

It doesn't hit me as hard as it should. I know I'm discussing matters with some of you here on LJ, but I can't be bothered to sit in front of the tele for ages, surf the net for information. I'm reading last tuesday's paper at the moment (I was busy), so in my world it hasn't even started yet. I'm busy, plenty of papers to grade, football tomorrow and a concert tonight. Is this wrong? I guess it is, but I can't change it.

Today another protest march in Amsterdam. The last time I went. It didn't stop the warmongers. Today I'm not going. Perhaps I'm too cynical, perhaps I think it doesn't have any influence whatsoever. I admire those who do do though. They've got my support.

Back to my papers, I've done 20, 30 to go and the weekend can start.

I have been feeling the same.. While I do feel .. strange about the whole war thing and it does give me the creeps in certain ways, I am way less bothered, hit by it then I feel I should be.. It's a strange feeling.

Insignificant might be the word we're looking for.

They won't stop the war now! Can you imagine George Bush backing down? I can't see it....thats why I don't join any of the protests now it has started.

Can we just ignore the whole story then? Isn't it so that the silent majority agrees with what happens?

Oh no! The whole war thing annoys me...makes me angry I think...I am getting fed up with seeing it all over the place too...but they won't back down now....I hope that people who disagree will remember when it comes to voting again in the next election. I know I will....but then I never did like Tony Blair anyway :)

The problem is: have you got an alternative?

To be honest....Nope!

Major problem: your left wing candidate turns out to be a power monster who does everything to stay in power. Even though I think your parlement is great, the way of electing MP's in your country is not really how I think it should be.

I don't like the way it's done here either to be honest.

And so I've heard several others complain. Wouldn't there be a chance for the first independent politician who stands up and re-organises the whole out of date system of regional representation?

Heh. I don't go to the protests because they're too far away for me to get to. The two local ones they've had they've managed to schedule while I was working. :-P

And this way we all have an excuse and the leaders can do whatever they want. I guess we should stop moaning, if we're not prepared to make offers ourselves :-(

True, true. My friend said much the same thing.

I've been asking myself how opposed to it I really am. I know there is no scale to measure this, as in I'm 64 against the war against Iraq, whereas I was only 32 against the invasion of Kosovo. But why I am in the near-silent majority?

I don't know about silent . . . it seems like the protesters have been fairly vocal. I haven't made it to a rally, but I write my senators and representatives so often they must be sick of me by now.

Waar staat hier iets over concert? Meindert Talma en Spinvis, met Bas, Marion, Cuno, Linde en Olaf. Was leuk.
