I had a great three days in London. Really enjoyed seeing the city again. My colleague organised the trip for her students, but it was not an official school excursion. She's from just outside London herself, so she knows her way around. She asked some friends of her to come, needed another group leader and therefore asked me to come as well.

She had organised it really well, plenty of work for her obviously. The students were okay. I didn't know any of them (she works in another department, I don't teach these kids), but they were very friendly. Monday evening we arrived in our hostel, near Picadilly Square. It wasn't easy to get 31 of us from Stansted via train and tube there, especially those who packed for a three week holiday instead of a three day trip were experiencing a hard time.

Tuesday plenty of free time, with the London Dungeons in the morning, the Tower in the afternoon and the Jack the Ripper walk in the evening as programme. I really enjoyed the Dungeons, very interesting, great actors. The Jack the Ripper walk was interesting as well, Brian our guide told the story really well.

Wednesday your typical sightseeing walk, including Big Ben and the Buckingham palace. Apart from that a tour of the Kensington Thistle tower hotel (the students could do their placement there next year, one of their mates already works there). In the evening a nice meal at TGI-fridays. In between all this obviously plenty of time in the pub (too much for some of us), brilliant atmosphere, bad for your wallet.

Thursday before leaving a short visit to Harrods, before leaving home again. Two hours delay at the airport, which is a good recipe for watching stressed out fellow travellers, my favourite passtime at airports.

I could write for ages, but I shan´t bore you too much. For those who know me a little: you are right, I did do some shopping, 11 books. Bad for back and wallet, but happy I´ve got plenty of English books for the following months.
