57. John Reed - Ten days that shook the world

This isn't holiday literature. Very heavy going. Not until the second chapter did I realise where all the footnotes where. In the back of the book. 71 notes consisting over 80 pages, it resembles any scientific book. I was continually using two papers to keep the pages and reading back and forth.

It is an eye-account of an American journalist of the Russian revolution. And as somebody who considers communism to be the best form of society, I had to read about it. It does confirm my opinion luckily, and don't get me started all you capitalists with your argument that it obviously doesn't work. I might be a pessimist here, but capitalism will collapse as much as the mutilated form of communism did in the Soviet Union and it's dependent countries.

The book is very detailed and very interesting to read, it gave me heaps of information on those very important 10 days, over 80 years back now. Anybody who wants to participate in any political discussion should read this as well.

58. Josie Lloyd - It could be you

And then I ran out of books and ended up with this trash. At some point in the book the main character actually has a go at Mills and Boons novels. I think this one must be worse than those, at least they are not pretending to be something else but trashy love novels. This one is as well. She falls in love with this flashy new director of her company and ends up in drugs parties, losing her job after a promotion, getting herpes and treating her real friends bad. But in the end everything turns out okay after all. ULTIMATE TRASH. Avoid it.

59. Robyn Davidson - Spuren

This is where I started borrowing books. This one in German, though the author is Australian, original title 'Tracks'. Nice idea: Go through the desert outback of Australia, from Alice Springs and walk with some camels to the west coast. A lot of people have got silly ideas, she actually decided to do it. Unfortunately for this book she decides to write a third of it about the preparations, the over two (!) years before she finally gets underway.

Somehow I can't seem to find sympathy for her, though a lot of her opinions are spot on. Whe tells a lot about aboriginals which is interesting to read. Her opinion of many redneck countrymen of her is harsh, but justified. As I will hope to see some of the things she saw on her route, in a short time, it was a good read.
