At this very moment Yolanda is enjoying the sun at the most famous beach in the world. As I am not a big fan of beaches, I decided to miss out on the fun and find a quieter place, less hot as well. That´s why I found an internetcafe.

I do not understand why people go to beaches. More particular: I do not understand why people feel the need to get as naked as possible and lie down in the sand and develop skin cancer. Especially not if they do so for a complete holiday.

An hour at most is what I manage, and only then if there is shade, the temperature is not too hot and most importantly: I´ve got a good book to read.

We have been away just over a week now and I have been to the beach 3 times. Exactly the way I like it, so no complaints, if I can do her a favour, I´m allright. Thing is: Yolanda says we´ve only been to the beach one afternoon. At the moment this difference in perception is still a reason for a friendly humorous discussion. Our first morning in Natal we went to the beach for 2 hours, then checked out of the hotel and left for town centre. The second time I had sand in my shoes was at the Jardim de Alah (Alah´s garden) in Salvador. After an hour and a half, we felt some raindrops and had to hide under the umbrella that was protecting me anyway for the sun.

So only in Arraial, when we were due to go to Porto Seguro, we had an afternoon with sun and had to reschedule the rest of the day. Not a problem, as Porto Seguro was small and we saw enough that same evening.

Today we went to the famous `Sugar loaf´ for a great view over Rio, now Yolanda is at her fourth visit to the beach. Or is it her second, first proper visit? I might give the beach a quick look myself ;-)
