Yesterday we went to see the baseball. And I never even considered that it could be bad weather, didn't even bring a coat. Yet halfway there (two hours drive) it started raining. 20 matches in three tournaments and no problem, match 21 coming up, first time I'm going and it's raining. The game was due to start at 19.00h, so we were sitting in the rain waiting for it to start. It did finally at 20.30h. Italy immediately turned out to be the toughest opposition, scoring in the first half of the first inning and then scoring another one in the second. We saw some great defense, especially Reili Legito, shortshop, played two extremely well. A solo HR in the bottom of the second meant the Italian lead was cut in half.

Then on starting the third, it started raining again. Another delay. 21.15h the players again went for a warm up, yet exactly as the game was ready to restart more water came from heaven, prompting the referee to cancel the game.

So back home we went. 4 hour in the car, 3 hours in the stadium getting wet, 2 innings played but cancelled. The game is due up again tomorrow evening.

What made you say that?

The way you related that story was just... very European. Hehe.

You make me curious. I do believe you, I think it is funny that one can deduct that from a paragraph of text.

You refer to it as a 'match' which an American would call a 'game'. And you give twenty-four hour time, whereas Americans would say nine at night or something like that.

Both very true. I was actually considering to use am/pm, yet I would normally not refer to it that way, so why should I now? Differences between British and American English I guess..

Ummm... not entirely. I don't think most Brits would use twenty-four hour time either, although they would be more likely to understand it. In the states, only military personnel get it right away.

True, now you mention it. Yet match is more english, game more american. At least in my experience.

Yes, that I would agree with.
