Watching the documentary/movie about Amalia Rodrigues I taped this weekend from TV5. Incredibly boring. I was hoping the music at least would be worth it, but I´m afraid Fado won´t make my top ten of music styles.
That's too bad. I bought one of her CD's when I lived in Turkey, really as an accident, but then thought it was heartbreakingly beautiful, sort of along the lines of "Besame Mucho" of Cesaria Evora. But it takes a mood of tremendous self pity, romantic rejection, and a lot of alcohol to really appreciate I guess! Your life may be too good for her just now. ;)
I really doubt that last statement. Not enough alcohol I can imagine. I have some mp3´s, her music isn´t bad, but a movie from the fifties in the Elvis Presley mould - no story, singing in odd places - doesn´t help her I guess.
