he's right, the concert won't help a thing in africa, even if debts are relieved, dictators will still be there in africa using up the money, tribe wars will continue, idiot church leaders will continue to say no to condoms and pharmaceutical companies will still refuse to make their medicines cheaper, both causing aids to spread more etc etc, but a thing that might come from it is that "the west" might start thinking about africa again in a world that has it's attention on anti-terrorism and post tsunami relief.
I get his point, really, I do. But at the same time, they're musicians, what does he want them to do? Take over an African country and put them on the right path? They're doing something, even if that is just raising money that's a drop in the bucket, bringing the situation to the attention of people who may or may not do anything about it. That's what they can do in the position they're in -- use their celebrity and talents to draw attention. I'm not sure what more the writer expects.
