Monument on the Dam square. Behind it the Amsterdam central station. Only those who have been to Amsterdam will realise that this picture cannot have been taken there. Not even the typical canal buildings (grachtenpanden) one sees in the background can convince them.
They are right. In Kemer, Turkey, some hotelier decided to get into the Dutch tourist market by offering them exactly what they've got at home. Buildings as if in Amsterdam or Volendam. Dutch music. Dutch food. Dutch everything. The only thing that is different: It is a few thousand miles away from the Netherlands, nicer weather therefore. Apparently it works. The Dutch want their 'broodje kroket' while they go away. So they book a five star resort for plenty of dosh and find a home away from home.
Judge for yourself, I shan't (though it is difficult)
