A few months after getting my driver's license I am in Costa Rica. San Jose is boring, I'm heading south, so going back north is no option either. But I do want to see something in this country. I rent a car and drive with two other backpackers to Volcan Irazu. Nearly 3.500m high. For the first time I drive in the mountains. It turns out to be easy. The road is better than elsewhere in central America and takes us up to 3200m. We walk around and enjoy the views. Apparently the volcano is still active. The last real eruption was in 1965.
The day I went, as nearly all days, the weather isn't clear. For those who are lucky to get there on a clear day: from the top one can see two oceans!
