I'd believe it. All it would take is a bit of confusion with the paperwork in the Emergency Room when the two girls were admitted, particularly if they couldn't be recognized by their faces. The doctors would have no reason to check fingerprints or DNA or anything else that would tell the two apart.

Yet it is weird. If you do not see a face, how can you say which is which, if the girls resembled each other this much?

Probably some doctor or nurse finally noticed a difference in blood types, or something like that. The part I find amusing would be when the doctors finally figured out their mistake. Can you imagine how horrified and dumb they must have felt.

Apparently, it did happen again, see link below (in Dutch). Similar case: also happened after a car crash. How bizarre is this! I hope that this will not happen on a frequently basis....too scary.
