Ping

I try to follow all the new things that appear on the web. I know how to embed video's, I'm a big fan of RSS, but I haven't got a clue what a ping is.

Thing is, these pings seem to take over my blog. Over 20 pings every day, from porn sites without exception, on my Dutch blog. Thing is, the blog is getting incredibly slow. Is there a relation between these two? Help me dear friends...

I may be totally wrong but i thought pings were related to ports on a pc. Basically pc's ping each other and if they can "talk" then they can download from each other. I only use this reference towards downloading music from other people but it may be the cause of your slowness.
