Kurt Vonnegut – A man without a country (07-032)

His last book, as unfortunately Kurt Vonnegut has left us. The man who wrote classics as ‘Slaughterhouse five’ and ‘Timequake’ is no longer breathing. Luckily he wrote this book before he went to meet his maker. The subtitle is ‘a memoir of life in George W. Bush’s America’, which gives a reasonable impression of what to expect.

I enjoyed reading this book; his thoughts on how the world is doing at this moment are interesting. His views are not surprising, if you have read more than one book by him, which I obviously have. One of the obvious political remarks: “Do you think Arabs are dumb? They gave us our numbers. Try doing long division with Roman numerals.”

Vonnegut is one of the greatest writers of the past fifty years. It says so on the front cover. The Daily Telegraph apparently said it first. I can only confirm.
