The Truman show

And while I'm on film review anyway, this week I also watched the Truman show. I taped it during the Christmas break, watched a part of it every night before I went to bed. I enjoyed watching it. Despite my antipathy for Jim Carey, I still enjoyed this one as well. It is a good story, great idea; funny to see how it is all worked out. The end has been stolen though. I don't know if anyone has noticed it before me - I'd be amazed if nobody has to be honest - but if you have read "This Perfect day" by Ira Levin, the end cannot come as a surprise. It was funny to see him sailing to the edge of his world, but the door out into the main studio was too predictable. Not a classic movie, but still entertaining.

is The Majestic. I'm not really into Jim Carrey all that much, but I did like The Truman Show and Man in the Moon. I think he can be a wonderful serious actor when he wants to be. Both my fiance' and I loved The Majestic...just your basic feel-good movie...and Carrey did a good job of pulling it off.

I'll keep an eye on the tv-pages, I just tape one once in a while and then watch it in my own time. Still got Schindlers list waiting at the moment...

It'll probably be awhile before The Majestic hits the tv...just got to the theaters about a month ago. Schnidler's List is amazing. One of the best movies made about the Holocaust in a long time.

My girlfriend just mailed me that I have to wait for her to come and see it, she hasn't seen it yet either. It'll have to wait therefore...
