Psychopath

In Amsterdam an idiot held several people hostage because he wasn't happy with the widescreentv he bought and the service he got after that. In the end he killed himself.

So civilization shows, even in a psychopath. I know a country where someone like him would walk into a McDonalds/supermarket/office/school and kill several others BEFORE killing himself.

I am happy to live in this country!

Sense? I can't make any sense of it. It's a sad story, but we were discussing it tonight. Apparently he has been complaining about the black lines you get when you've got wide screen tv.

What would you do if some nutter stormed into your office with a gun and start moaning about something that trivial? I'm fairly sure I'd be the one telling him that there hadn't been anything on worth watching anyway lately, regardless what tv you use. Would have put me in an akward position I'm afraid.

I was being sarcastic when i said it made sense, what kind of screwball does that, if some nutter did storm into my work place i don't know how i'd react (probably panic).

I hate it when people say stupid stuff like "Oh i'd disarm him" or "I'd do this blah blah", really nobody knows how they would react until it happens, i think i'd panic.

Obviously the vast majority would be shitting themselves, me included. The thing is just, with the absurdity of his arguments, I'd be making remarks, I'd be looking for the candid camera. I'm not sure if I could stop myself from making a remark.

It is scary how many fuckheads are in the world like this. I hope that doesn't happen at my work!

As long as you don't sell widescreens, I'm sure you'll be allright.

(Do you know the Reed/Cale song 'smalltown': When you're growing up in a small town, you know noone famous ever came from here)

What country are you talking about? Mine? Hey we have plenty of nutcases that just kill themselves, don't you worry :)!! There is a "slight" population difference that you aren't taking into account there. Of course we have more psychos, we have more people. And more McDonalds/supermarkets/offices/schools/factories...and now that I think about it...damn suicide bombers in the Middle East "blow" that competition away!
(Wonder how many of our psychos are immigrants? Do their countries of origin get to claim them then? Thinking of some news reports, I think that would lower the percentage too.)

I'm fairly sure the percentage of immigrants among the psycho's in your country is nearing the 100%. The odd one out is the last descendant of the nearly exterminated original inhabitants. Or are you seriously suggesting to differ people on the year they migrated. Almost all of you did, over the last couple of 100 years. I can't see any difference there.

First of all I am being sarcastic and joking :).
However, yes, we are a nation of immigrants. Actually it was the Europeans coming in with their superior attitudes who exterminated the original inhabitants.
Why not judge on the year people migrated?? If you came here after you were an adult and committed a crime...blame the country you came from for screwing you up. (Doesn't that go along with your theory of your country being a better place? If it is not someone born and raised here, than blame the other country.) Like that guy from (I think) Croatia, it was a few months ago so I don't remember the country. Anyway, the guy killed his pregnant wife, his young child and some other people in a huge killing spree out on the west coast. Turns out the guy was rejected from the army in his home country because of mental problems...and yet he can come here?? What?? How come a freak like that is allowed to immigrate here? I say blame Croatia (or wherever it was), and when we executed him..no one better complain. Except he will probably get off becuase of insanity...I say kill him.
Another similar problem:
Heard on the radio this morning about a man in Georgia who is on death row about to be executed. It just so happens that he is from England so there is this international mess trying to stop him from being executed. (He IS totally guilty, by the way..no questions on that.) Anyway..point is...people know that the US has the death penalty right? If you come here and commit a crime like that, you very well may be killed for it. Don't come to this country and commit crimes, we kill you for it, enough said. So instead of European authorities trying to stop the execution, they need to step up the education..cause the death penalty isn't going anywhere for a while. Stop shipping the psychos to the US, we don't need anymore we have plenty..thanks!

(This is all partially kidding you know, although I think it kind of makes sense, I am a rational person and know that it doesn't work this way :)Just think about it a little. Can you kind of see where I am coming from? I get very sick of American bashing...don't think it is all deserved.)

I agree there is plenty of common sense in there. When I suggested that it would be difficult to judge on the year people migrated, I meant that literally. So not age, but 1867 as opposed to 1975. Where is the cut-off point? Obviously no country is eager to accept morons from other countries, we are no different than you.

And YES, if you know the death penalty exists, then don't moan if it gets used. But it doesn't solve anything. Percentagewise crimerates are even higher in countries WITH the death penalty. Should 1% of the criminals executed turn out to be innocent (and I believe the average is higher than that), there is no way you can defend it anymore. Someone in jail innocently can be released. Someone in a cardboard box can't.

Until your president starts getting common sense and your people stop defending him, I'd say the bashing is justified. This doesn't mean that I disqualify all Americans automatically (we've discussed that point before), but it does still mean I don't like your country. In the meantime I'm happy the Baseball season is coming up!

You know that I agree on the fact that innocent people get put to death, that's horrible and in a way makes me want to get rid of the death penalty. BUT...then you read about someone that rapes, sodomizes and kills a two year old baby...can we kill him please?? I know, that's an endless discussion, and I don't have the answers to it...I am not ready to say that we should get rid of the death penalty. The system needs reform, for sure, but it has it's place.

As far as the President goes, I've told you before that I didn't vote for him. I was LIVID when he was elected. However, I don't think that he has been doing a bad job necessarily. I think it will be 3 years until we know how much he screwed up! (next elections). Either way, the support he is getting is a show of unity in a country where a lot of times we are very divided. It's not exactly a bad thing, and at least we have our system of checks and balances so that he can't (alone) completely screw everything up! hehe. As far as common sense goes though, I kind of like the fact that he has his "rough edges", he doesn't take any crap. Coming from Chicago, we like that here. The Mayor of Chicago (Richard Daley) is the most "tell it like is" politician I have ever seen. Love him.

Do you really need an election to know how a politician is doing? Can't you just know by reading his statements, following his actions, thinking about the consequences of his policies? He's trying to start another cold war the way he's behaving now. Offcourse some rough edges can be nice given that most politicans are smooth talkers (your country has had its share as well), but plain ignorance and bad politics have to be condemned for someone in his position.

Ooops, I didn't make myself clear. No, I don't need an election to see how a politician is doing. All I mean is that this is pretty early in his term and he has plenty of time to screw everything up or improve on his current stance. It's hard to tell how a President's term will be seen overall from just the first year, do you know what I mean? This hasn't exactly been an easy first year of his term either.

I know sometimes it takes years to judge someone, how they'll end up in history, compared to others. But in this case one can directly see the mistakes he's making.

So, no, it hasn't been easy for him, still I think I can safely justify my previous comments.

Sow wind and you harvest a storm..
